Dumb Dialogue, also known as "Low Intelligence" dialogue, is a mode of speech where The Player talks in a garbled and barely coherent manner. This occurs when the player's Intelligence is less than 5, and/or with certain Character backgrounds.

Dumb Dialogue results in NPCs responding to the player in a vastly different manner than normal. It also severely limits the number of dialogue branches. The Player will find many Quests unavailable to them, and several Followers will refuse (or be unable) to join the party.

Build considerations[]

  • Most persuasive lines are locked off, even if you invest in Charisma and Persuasion.
  • At 4- Intelligence, you cannot learn any spells or spend CP on schematics.
  • Backgrounds like Idiot Savant allow you to play a high-Intelligence 'dumb' playthrough, but will prevent you from using Essences of Intellect to temporarily use normal dialogue.

Available followers[]

The following characters can join up with you and become permanent companions, provided you meet their usual requirements:

Some usually-temporary characters can join your party too:

Other characters may be able to join you provided you drink an Essence of Intellect before talking with them.

Quests[]

This is a rough guide on what quests are available in a dumb playthrough, alongside any special considerations that might be involved. Be aware that boosting your Intelligence up temporarily may allow you to do some unavailable quests.
