This is a Build that relies on a balanced approach to Magick and Technology to develop the perfect stealth killing machine. Designed for Female Half-orcs, but Males can work it too. The build is super flexible for experimentation once the basic setup is in place
Intro[]
- Assassins generally run solo or with a single valet follower
- If you desire, your valet is Virgil until you swap him out for Magnus Shale Fist
- You will occasionally make use of Jayna Stiles and Vollinger in Dernholm, having Magnus wait in place each time while you recruit each of them just long enough to craft for you
- Dog is also a free addition if you really need him, but you probably won't
- You'll be using Agility of Fire instead of adding Character Points to Dexterity at first
- You'll be using Charm for shopkeepers, apprentice training, and any other problematic social encounters
- You'll be using Turn Based Combat, and Stun when needed, especially with Backstab
- At level 3 you'll get Backstab, and that's when Stun really kicks in
- Backstab is a wonderful but dangerous skill
- Critical failure with it is suicide, so keep your Melee level at least 1 rank higher then Backstab until both Skills are maxed
The Blimp[]
- Start as a Half-orc and Raised by Orcs background.
- Female works best, but Male is good too.
- Take 1 point Melee, 1 point Willpower, 1 point Fire, and 2 points Mental
- Buy lock picks, and a rapier, and fine dagger as backup for yourself; and buy a regular dagger as backup for Virgil.
- Sell your robes and buy a Fancy Dress if you are Female.
Crash Site[]
- Hotkey your spells
- Gather everything that you can pick up off of the ground and from containers
- During level 1 focus on ailing wolves
- At level 2 take Melee 2 and go after lesser boars, kites and then rats
- At level 3 take Backstab 1 and fight the kite shaman, the dark individual, and the normal wolves in the valley
- This is where Stun really kicks in: Switch to fine dagger as your main weapon, use stun, walk behind the target, and kill away
- Do the cave quest (both ways if you want for max exp, you are an assassin after all)
- That should get you to level 4: Take Pick Pocket 1 and go to Shrouded Hills
Shrouded Hills[]
- Clear the temple of rats, and with the three containers sort your loot as follows:
- Container 1 is for crafting materials in the first two degrees of both Herbology and Explosives
- Container 2 is for quest items and stuff that you might want later
- Container 3 is for stuff to sell (everything else)
- Sell off what you can
- Talk to everyone and loot all containers (including garbage bins)
- Get apprentice training in Dodge and Melee
- Kill all of the wolves (6 of them) on the edge of town
- Do all of the quests
- At level 5 take Prowling 1 and Pick Locks 1
- Get apprentice training on those, and in Throwing as well
- That night, rob the town blind if you wish to try out your new skills
- At Level 6 take Explosives 1 and stock up on Molotov Cocktails
- No real throwing skill is required for Molotov Cocktails, as you basically wait for the main enemy (or a swarm) to close in on you, and then throw one point blank; they will AoE everything except you and your party
- Now head to Dernholm
Dernholm[]
- On the way, swing by the Wolf Cave for some nice exp and loot -- those Molotov Cocktails will come in handy
- Don't do the Wolf Cave if you are close to level 8, because you want to be level 8 or below when you get to Tarant
- At Dernholm, talk to everyone and loot what you can
- Thieving is harder here than in Shrouded Hills, but you can still get some stuff
- Take the taxes quest, talk to Sarah Toone
- At level 7 take Herbology 1; you'll need it in Tarant
- Get Pick Pocket apprentice training from Vollinger
- Head back to Shrouded Hills
Shrouded Hills[]
- Wrap up any loose quests, raid the trash, and sell off your junk
- Gather your good stuff and walk to Tarant
- If you hit level 8, take Electric 1
- If you have anything Ruby related, sacrifice it at Torg's Altar
Tarant[]
- Go to the Rat Warehouse
- You should be level 7 or 8; if so then simply unload everything in the barrel just inside the door
- If you are still level 6 then also talk to the Gnome there and do his quest
- Have Virgil wait at the Warehouse and go get Magnus
- Clear the Rat Warehouse with Magnus
- Have Magnus make some swords
- Buy Oiled Thieves Leather
- Talk to everyone, accept all of the quests, and do all of the local non-combat quests
- Get the Bessy Toone mine deed
- At level 9, take Electric 2 and make rings for both of you
- At level 10 take Pick Locks 2 and 3 and get ready to go to Black Root
- Gather the mine deed, leather armour, ingredients for Fatigue Restorer, 1 thermometer, and 1 migraine cure
Black Root[]
- At Black Root get Melee and Pick Locks expert training, and pick up the throwing mastery quest.
- Do all quests, including the taxes
- At level 11 and 12 take Prowling 2 and Pick Pocket 2
- Go to Dernholm
Dernholm[]
- Wear your leather armor and get Prowling Expert training
- Give the deed to the mine to Sarah Toone
- Thieve and loot as much as you can with your new skills
- Recruit Jayna Stiles long enough to craft fatigue restorers and 3 units of Elixir of Persuasion
- Go back to Tarant, via Black Root
Tarant[]
- Wear your leather armor and get Pick Pocket Expert training
- Drink one of the potions and quickly get apprentice training for Persuasion
- Do the combat quests, including the Skulls, Tombstone, and Open Sewers
- Do the quest to Join The Thieves Underground
- At level 13 get ingredients for a Flow Specktrometer and buy an Essence of Intellect
- Drink the potion, take Electric 3, and craft the Flow Specktrometer all in one go
- Have Magnus make 6 Trap Springers, and buy about 50 Charges
- Visit P. Schuyler and Sons, use the Flow Specktrometer, and clear the place out
- Use dialogue to get your Fate Point with the Schuylers
- Loot their lair to get the clue that Gilbert Bates is the owner of The Ring
- Either Talk to Bates to learn about the Black Mountain Clan, or
- Talk to Cedric Appleby to find a way to Steal Bates' Journal
- At level 14 take Melee 3
- At level 15 Pick Locks 4 and Explosives 2
- Have Magnus make an Auto Skeleton Key when he gets that degree
- Powershop the Gun Smith for the Electrocution Grenade Schematic
- If you need extra exp then level up at The Boil or the Closed Sewers
Preparing for the BMC[]
- Stock up on supplies for the BMC run:
- Molotov Cocktails, about 30
- Electrocution Grenades, about 20
- Charges, about 200
- Healing Salve, about 20, plus some extra herbs
- Fatigue Restorers, about 10
The BMC[]
- Force Stillwater by going to coordinates 1190W 753S
- Set up camp there, and store your gear at the Inn.
- Do the quests if you want
- Get ready to raid the Black Mountain Clan Mines
- You can do this in as many trips as you like, using Stillwater as your base
- Return as needed to Stillwater to sell loot, and to stock up on more Molotov Cocktails and/or healing herbs or weapons
- Use Grenades and Molotov Cocktails on the Ore Golems or extreme kite mobs
- Use Melee on lesser enemies
- Use Stun or Prowl plus Backstab on harder enemies
- Make sure to grab and equip the Eye Gear on the level
- This should take you to level 19
- Take Perception 11 and 12, Prowling 3, and Pick Pocket 3
- Loot everything in the BMC for about 20-30k gp
- Sell what you can in Stillwater, and take the rest to Tarant
- Take 2 trips between Stillwater and Tarant if you have to sell all of your loot-- the money is worth it
Tarant[]
- Sell off your stuff, rich kid!
- Do more combat quests (boil, closed sewers) to get to level 22
- Take Perception 15, Pick Locks 5, Prowling 4, and Pick Pocket 4
- Now your Build is essentially complete -- Gratz!
Final Thoughts[]
- It is clear sailing after this
- Do the Thieves Underground quests if you wish
- Levelling options are:
- Consider adding points to Perception, Pick Pocket, and Prowling if you want to max them out
- Pump Explosives if you want better grenades
- Consider Throwing as a bonus skill
- Or even Firearms
- Basically experiment to your heart's content :)
